In this student- led camp, we'll work on learning tactical strategies used in chess games. We will focus on identifying common themes, pattern recognition, and execution through practice. Learners will learn both sides of each tactic and gain board awareness to avoid common mistakes. We will begin each class with a variety of puzzles so that students can explore and gain knowledge of the tactic organically. Then, we will have a short lesson that covers terminology, core ideas, execution, and tips for the defending player. After this lesson, we will complete additional puzzles to solidify that knowledge and ensure understanding before having the opportunity to use our skills during a game of chess. Students will select each days topic as a group. Example Topics: Mating Nets Desperado Tactics Sacrifices
