Class Experience

This ongoing course meets twice a week to work on increasing strength and flexibility.  Feel free to come and go as you please.  It is important to work on flexibility and strength training to maintain proper form in gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading.

This class is ideal for students who are interested in gymnastics, dance, and cheerleading.
This class can be taken by students who are beginners to advanced.  There are many modifications to each exercise and stretch. 

Each week's class is structured the same way, with different exercises to keep the class fresh. Each class will begin with a short warm-up to prevent injury and will be followed by a series of strength and flexibility exercises. Classes will finish with a short cool down.

Please practice strength and flexibility in a safe space with no obstacles in the way. (coffee tables, breakable valuables, etc.)  Also, provide a soft area (gymnastics mat, yoga mat, carpet) for your child to practice on.

Note: Parent supervision is highly encouraged to maintain a safe environment.



Class structure for each week, because this is an ongoing class, this is an example of what each class will look like: 

Week 1
Class 1: Full body strength, left and right front splits
Class 2: Full body strength, left, right, and middle splits

Week 2 
Class 1:Full body strength, left and right front splits, and pike stretch (hamstrings)
Class 2: Full body strength, left, right, and middle splits, and bridge stretches

Week 3: 
Class 1:Full body strength, left and right front splits, and pike stretch (hamstrings)
Class 2: Full body strength, left, right, and middle splits, and bridge stretches

Learning Goals

Students will improve their strength and flexibility for sports such as gymnastics, cheerleading, and dance.

Note: Parent supervision is highly encouraged to maintain a safe environment.
Supply List
Students should have an area free of obstacles to practice class.  Students should have a soft area to practice. (A gymnastics mat, yoga mat, or a soft rug.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

Kaz is a dedicated and passionate gymnastics coach with over a decade of experience. She began her coaching journey in 2009 and took her passion to the next level by opening Coach Kaz Gymnastics in 2012. Over the years, Kaz has expanded her business to online formats to share her love of gymnastics worldwide. 

Kaz strives to make every session fun and active while fostering confidence, positive attitudes, and essential personal skills in her students. She believes that gymnastics is more than just a sport; it’s the foundation of human movement, providing the building blocks necessary for development in all sports. The fitness and life skills learned through gymnastics are tremendous, and Kaz is dedicated to showing her students that they can achieve anything they set their minds to with hard work and a positive attitude.

Kaz holds an associate's degree in Sports Exercise and Science from Amarillo College, where she gained hands-on experience teaching both children and adults about fitness and body movement. She furthered her education at West Texas A&M University, earning a degree in Psychology. This academic background provides Kaz with a deep understanding of how the mind and body work together, enhancing her ability to teach new skills effectively.

Kaz has taken numerous courses focused on teaching the foundations of gymnastics. Her commitment to continuing education and practical experience has made her an expert in her field. Kaz loves watching her students grow stronger and more confident with each new skill, knowing they have a solid foundation to build upon.
