STREAM Story-time - The Three Little Pigs Fairy Tale
What's included
2 live meetings
1 in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will read the story, The Three Little Pigs with the teacher. The students will engage in thoughtful and provoking discussions about the story. This allows for reading and comprehension skills to be enhanced. This portion of the lesson will take place in an open forum class and allow for every student who wishes to speak to have a turn speaking. Students will be expected to "raise their hand" if they want to speak to avoid a lot of background noise and talking over each other. Students will review the story. Then students will plan, create, test, and evaluate their own skills at house building. Will their withstand the "wolf's wind"? Is the house strong enough to stay together? What do the students need to do to correct any errors in design? Then, if needed, the students will recreate their houses to fix any deficits in the first build. We will have a class discussion on how our plans, creations, and testing phases were conducted. What worked? What did not work? What did we learn? I like to be a hands-on-to-learning teacher. This class is not about the teacher. The students are the focus and will guide the course. The teacher is just the facilitator. For this class, there is no prior knowledge required to attend this class.

Central to my philosophy is the belief that continuous learning is essential for personal growth. I advocate for acquiring new knowledge daily to enrich our lives. As an educator, I employ the 5 E's approach—Engage, Explore, Explain, Elaborate, and Evaluate—while also emphasizing the importance of "Extend" in teaching.
Regarding my education and experience, I hold a Bachelor's Degree in Child Development and have pursued extensive coursework towards a Master's Degree in Education: Curriculum and Instruction. Additionally, I possess a Master's Degree in Business Administration. Call me crazy, but I am currently working on a Doctorate is Education: Organizational Leadership.
With fifteen years of experience owning and operating state-licensed and accredited preschool, childcare, and school-age centers, I have a solid foundation in education. I have, also, served as a substitute teacher for middle and high school students, including fulfilling long-term positions in core academic subjects.
Having dedicated over 25 years to working with children in both classroom settings and extracurricular activities, I have taught a diverse range of subjects such as English, Reading, History, Math, Science, and ESL, to students with diverse abilities.
