Description
Class Experience
Students will learn how to skim passages for time and accuracy. Students will learn how to identify SAT Writing & Language question types. Students will learn the specific punctuation marks, grammar rules, and word usages tested on the SAT.
As a private tutor, I have worked with learners on the techniques presented in this course for several years. By demystifying the test itself and focusing on strategies rather than knowledge, these tools have helped a majority of my students improve their SAT Writing & Language scores.
Between classes, learners will be asked to complete two SAT Writing & Language passages (one timed, one not). This amounts to about an hour of homework between classes.
Learners will receive PDF copies of covered passages from the instructor. Learners are encouraged to bring pen/pencil and paper for note-taking. Additionally, some learners find it beneficial to print the passages as hard copies before the beginning of class.
Learners will bring their finished passages to class for team review. We will discuss problematic questions briefly, and learners are encouraged to reach out to the instructor if they are unsatisfied with a correct answer. There will be no letter grade, but learners will have a chance to discuss and review incorrect answers.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
