Class Experience

US Grade 8 - 11
We will go over what types of questions are asked in each section of the ACT test. We will talk about test-taking strategies that are specific to each portion of the ACT test. We will also go over practice questions that are just like the questions asked on the ACT test. The material will be presented in a lecture format with slides (students will get a copy of the slides to be able to review on their own). Students should be comfortable with a high school level of English, have background knowledge in at least Algebra 1 and Geometry (Algebra 2 is also preferred), and be comfortable with high school-level reading.

Please note that this class covers the same material as the four individual ACT Test classes that I offer.

Beyond the videos mentioned, students will also receive copies of all the slides covered as well as a free practice exam.

Videos and other material will be posted each Monday by 6:00 AM Chicago time.

Course syllabus:
--Week 1--
* Video: English Section

--Week 2--
* Video: Math Section

--Week 3--
* Video: Reading Section

--Week 4--
* Video 1: Science Section
* Video 2: Writing Section

Course expectations:
This is a flexible schedule course, meaning that there are no live meetings. Each week, you will watch the videos (via an unlisted YouTube link that will be posted in the classroom) and work through the corresponding part of the practice exam. This is not the kind of course where you can just sit and watch the videos and learn. You should be working through the practice exam sections each week in order to get the most benefit out of the course.

The instructor will always be available via message and will typically reply within 12 to 24 hours. I am also willing to set up office hours via Zoom video chat if they are requested by a section of the class.

Learning Goals

Students will improve their understanding of the concepts and types of questions in each portion of the ACT test.
