Class Experience

Each week you will work on Famous scenes from movies, where you will get the opportunity to bring the characters to life, your version, with YOU as the STAR!

You will make new friends and have a time in your life with this 80s inspired awesome show.

You will learn to quickly develop characters and make strong choices by choosing obstacles your character could face and then you will work on assigning different possible *tactics* the character will do to overcome their obstacles. In most classes you will be assigned groups and be placed into zooms awesome “breakout rooms” where I will be giving direction in the rooms. While In these rooms, you will Have the opportunity to work together on creating a truthful and engaging scene and then perform your scene before the class in front of a mock audition panel complete with camera, clapperboard and loads of fun! Each week you will learn more techniques so that by week 12 you are ready to perform your chosen piece.

Weeks 1: The first day Will be a welcome to class along with introductions for myself and the students. We will also be playing improvisation games to get to know one another and to form a trustworthy and communicative group where we feel safe and comfortable performing. During the first class we will also talk about the Pilot episode and scenes we will be working on.
Weeks 2-4: Each class will start off with a brief warm-up game. After choosing the scenes to work on and will then completely immerse ourselves in the development of the characters, starting with a table read(so you get the feel for the characters, relationships and what’s really going on), we will work with character development slides to help make this experience fun and easy. Of course we will also be performing in the first four weeks and throughout. We will discuss characters objectives(what drives the character) and their tactics(what the character does to work towards achieving their objectives)

Weeks 5-9: we perform our pieces and work on putting alternate emotional and physical choices to see how that changes the character, the look, the relationships, etc. Through this process of understanding the characters feelings, we will get a better understanding as to what the character is thinking. We will work on developing the characters thoughts based on what they say and talk about how the characters feel about what’s going on, etc.

Weekks 10-12: perform and perform some more. This 4 week period is where it all magically comes together. We will perform with cameras rolling, clapperboard and students will be sent their final pieces which can be used as part of their future reel!!!! Your final performance is week 12.

Students will be given immediate constructive feedback and direction.

This class is super fun. You don’t need any experience to start and you don’t have to want to be an actor to join my classes!
Learning Goals
Students will have an understanding of what The process is like in becoming an actor. After an actor has auditioned this is when they will be given the script and if they are cast as a principal Character then they will be doing a table read, which we will be covering in this program. We will also be looking at character development, relationship development, character subconscious development and objectives and tactics. The students will have an understanding of script analysis by the end of the program.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
Stranger Things is Rated PG-13. If your child is under that age I will need your permission that this is OK. Stranger stranger things has some swearwords in that we always replace with non-swearwords. Stranger Things may be a creepy, somewhat violent, and intense sci-fi series about a dangerous creature preying on children, but at the heart of it all, it's a show about courage and friendship that's fun to watch. That said, it's definitely one for a teen audience, including mature tweens.
External Resources

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been in the acting industry since a very young child, acting in theatre.
From there, I went on to study theatre and film acting.
I have taught over 2000 actors and have helped them to successfully prepare for their careers in acting. On average, 70-80% of my students have gone on to book work in film, tv and commercials.
My classes are interactive as I feel hands on learning in acting IS the only way. Students will learn through my various programs how to analyze and score scripts, build characters, relationship development, improv, auditioning techniques and method acting techniques.
We will work on both scenes and monologues.(depending on the course)

Also, I am very familiar with stranger things season one as I have watched it many times and studied it and taught it to many students In my own film school.
