Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1

Beginner - Advanced Level

In this class we will read six classics by the famed children's author, Eric Carle. Some of the books we will read are well known and well loved and some are not as well known but still timeless and endearing. Each story time will be centered around a theme related to the book and will cover a variety of topics including, colors, number sense, addition and subtraction, sequencing, pretend play, life on a farm, the life cycle of a butterfly, body parts, the five senses, and much more. My classes are designed to be relaxing and engaging for my learners as I want to provide for them a space to be themselves and see what fun learning can be.

6 Lessons

over 6 Weeks

Lesson 1:

Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?

 We will read Brown Bear, Brown Bear by Eric Carle. We will also learn about colors and match animals with their colors.

Lesson 2:

Pancakes, Pancakes!

 In this class we will read a lesser known but engaging book by Eric Carle , Pancakes, Pancakes! We will also discuss sequencing in stories and processes and engage in pretend play.

Lesson 3:

From Head to Toe

 We will read From Head to Toe by Eric Carle and learn about body parts, our 5 senses and our favorite things.

Lesson 4:

The Very Busy Spider

 In this session we will read Eric Carle's The Very Busy Spider and learn all about farm animals and life on a farm. We will also learn about spiders and make a spider craft.

Supply List

Learners will need access to paper, crayons or markers, scissors, and glue. Additional art supplies will be posted in the classroom at least one week prior to the class meeting.

I have been working and teaching children and youth for nearly twenty years. Over half of my experience with children and youth comes from teaching both in-person and online. I am most passionate about teaching early childhood. My passion for helping little ones thrive and learn continues to grow each year! The books we will read in class are some of the same timeless classics I read to my own children and many of the activities I include in my classes have been first used with my own little ones.
