Class Experience

In this on-going Storytime Theatre class, young learners will be introduced to what it means to be an actor and play a character! Each class will consist of three sections-
- A warm up, in which we'll talk about the three actor's tools of body, voice and imagination and play some games to get those things warmed-up
- After our warm up game, children will be taught an ASL sign having to do with theatre, which will springboard us into our story for the week. I will then read them the story, while encouraging them to start using their three actor's tools to help me act it out!
- In the final portion of class, I will lead the children through an acting exercise focused on becoming one of the characters from our story, creating the setting, sound effects, or another theatrical element!

Each week we will learn a different story and about a different aspect of acting and theatre! Since this is an on-going class, there is no obligation to make every week!

Learning Goals

Students will learn what it means to be an actor and what the three actor's tools are, and they will gain practice and development in using their bodies, voices and imaginations. Students will also learn about the skills of concentration and cooperation, and exercise both throughout class.

Supply List
I will post what topic each class will cover at least a day before the class...
It is absolutely not necessary, but in a class where we talk about costumes, it might be helpful for children to have a few items they can pick from to be a "costume piece" (no actual costumes are necessary, anything can be a costume!)
In a class where we talk about "setting," I may have the children do a drawing activity where they would draw a setting, so having crayons and paper available would be helpful.
