US Grade Kindergarten - 2
In this class, students will listen to the wonderful story Salt In His Shoes by Deloris Jordan with Roslyn Jordan. It's a true snippet of Michael's life when he was a young boy. Young Michael feared he'd never be tall enough to play the game that would eventually make him famous. To lift his spirits, his mother told him that salt in his shoes would help him grow. We will be discussing the lesson, or moral, of the story at the end. After the story, we will play a fun interactive game about Michael Jordan, where students get to control the screen. Finally, students will make a drawing of Michael Jordan through a directed drawing format. See you in class!
Learning Goals
Students will ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to show understanding of key details in a text. They will also discuss the lesson, or moral, of the story.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I'm Teacher Shannon! I have taught 2nd grade for 24 years. I've taught both Gifted and Regular Education. I was a substitute teacher for 2 years working with Early Childhood students as well as older elementary students. My passion is reading! I love Children's Literature and I have even co-taught college level students on "What's New In Children's LIterature?" for the last 10 years. What drives me as a teacher is to have a fun, safe, interactive classroom while embracing lots of quality literature. I want kids to love reading as much as I do and to have fun learning! And maybe make a craft or two along the way!
