My name is Miss Raz, and I have a deep love for teaching foundational skills. As a first-grade teacher with experience as a Title 1 Reading Specialist, I bring a passion for using multi-sensory techniques to teach phonics, decoding, and reading comprehension. I believe in an integrated approach to English Language Arts skills; decoding, writing, and comprehension all go hand-in-hand. I hold a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education.
In order to develop my own professional learning, I have begun to implement a hands-on approach to math teaching based on the work of Peter Liljdahl’s Building Thinking Classrooms. As a strong proponent to this work, I have brought this style of math learning online to help students dive deeper into their own math understanding.
In my classes on Outschool, I strive to spark student interest in reading and math through fun and engaging activities. I believe in fostering a love for learning through gamification and student-centered approaches. I aim to create a positive and interactive learning environment where students feel empowered to take ownership of their education.
Outside of teaching, you can find me immersed in a good book, exploring nature, or experimenting in the kitchen. I can't wait to learn and grow with you!
