Welcome to the Storytelling Genius Writing Club—a weekly creative space where teen writers (ages 13–16) come together to explore the art and heart of storytelling. Whether your dream is to write books, screenplays, video game narratives, or short stories, this club will help you sharpen your voice and build storytelling confidence. Each week, we’ll explore key storytelling topics like how to come up with compelling ideas, structure a solid plot, develop character arcs, and work through mindset blocks like self-doubt and overthinking. Through writing prompts, group discussion, and optional sharing, you’ll get to build your skills in a fun, low-pressure, judgment-free environment. We will primarily talking about the stories of the students in the class. Sometimes we will reference books, screenplays or other media to enhance our discussions. These references will be available a head of class time and will be age appropriate. In class, my goal is for everyone to have a voice. They may share on video, audio or in chat, in line with their comfort level. At times we will share stories for the entire class to read and get feedback. This will only be done at the comfort level of the student and we will review what constructive feedback looks like with the entire group. Writers can join at any point—no prior writing experience is needed. Come as you are, bring your voice, creativity, curiosity, and grow your skills week by week!

Teacher expertise and credentials
Bachelor's Degree in Film/Cinema/Video Studies from The University of the Arts
I am a certified teacher through Drexel University who holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Film and Digital Video from the University of the Arts. I love working with students to use their creative intuition to craft fun, inspiring and personal stories that impact their lives and others.
My background in writing my own screenplays and books and film making, paired with my teaching experience in the classroom and at summer camps combines my passions to teach the power of storytelling and writing classes. I have been working with students for over 20 years and truly love the experience of watching them thrive.
My focus and passion is on teaching teens how to hone their unique writing voice and use that to create stories via short stories, novels, screenplays and video games. I teach that the whole process of writing can be enjoyable from idea generating, to outlining to crafting plot, and character.
In addition, addressing issues like writer's block and being stressed and stuck is something I also love to weave into my instruction as a Registered Yoga Teacher.
My classroom philosophy is to let kids be who they are, to express themselves and discover what works best for them. I do this by encouraging sharing and participation either on screen or through chat. This is also a reason that I offer one on one sessions to help students really create writing pieces that are very strong and that they love.
