Description
Class Experience
Students will grow their confidence in creative writing and story development. They will become familiar with character archetypes that show up in stories across all genres and be able to identify them in stories they read or watch. They will learn specific story-development tools they can implement in any story. They will enjoy the process of creation and or sharing ideas with others to help each other grow as writers. They will gain experience in working together in a group to develop stories and bounce ideas off each other in a supportive and constructive environment.
I earned my Masters in Education from the Harvard Graduate School of Education, and I am a member of the National Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators, as well as writing and hosting my own podcast for kids, Tales from the Moosiverse.
There is an optional worksheet for students to complete each week. The worksheet might take 20-60 minutes depending on the student, and is designed to support the work of the class, but is not required.
The student will only need something to write on, and something to write with.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
There is no formal assessment but assessment can be provided at the request of the paying adult (request should ideally be made prior to the first session).
1 hour per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
