Have you ever wanted to create something new? An invention that could make something easier or improve the world around you? In this class, we will learn about Rosie, a young girl with a huge imagination! Together, we will read the book Rosie Revere, Engineer and then, using recycled materials found in your home, you will brainstorm and create a new invention of your own! This invention could be an improvement to something that you already know about or something brand new that you think would be helpful to someone! The class will end with optional sharing of our new inventions with the class.
Learning Goals
Learners will design a simple model to represent a proposed object.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! My name is Ms. Littlefield and I have been an educator for the past 16 years, teaching grades K-4.
I received a Teaching Certificate and a Masters in Education from the University of New England. I taught in the State of Maine for 9 years before moving to California, where I taught for 7 years before recently moving back to Maine.
I enjoy reading books with learners as a way to connect with and explore the world around us. I believe that books should be inclusive and that all students should have the opportunity to see themselves portrayed in literature.
Many of my classes at this time will focus on Storybook STEAM and Book Clubs. These classes will feature an array of books, activities, and discussions that will encourage all learners to explore, think, and ask questions.
In my spare time, I love traveling and exploring new places, reading, cooking, yoga, and taking care of my many house plants.
I look forward to working with you and encourage you to reach out if you have any questions about class offerings!
