Students will listen to the story Mary Had a Little Glam and then hone their STEM skills by using the engineering design process to create their own fashionable item.

Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 4

Learners will complete a STEM challenge based on a modern retelling of Mary Had a Little Lamb.  Your fashionistas in the making will love the rhyme and rhythm of Mary Had a Little Glam.  After hearing the story, learners will learn how to use the Engineering Design Process as a STEM resource for solving a problem. By the end of this class learners will be able to create a fashion item using household items and explain their process.

I am a veteran educator who loves reading and creating. As a former media specialist, bringing books to life is my specialty. I am currently a technology teacher at a STEM school.

No homework is required.

Students will need any household items on hand for crafting.  Recommended items are: construction paper, newspaper, magazines, scissors, tape, glue, crayons, and/or markers

Additional household crafting items that might be useful:  toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, string, glitter, felt, pipe cleaners, feathers, sequins

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
