"A little girl and her father search for owls late one winter night, sharing precious time together." Caldecott Medal 1988 The perfect introduction to literature! This is a "mini" Storybook Art class. Students will enjoy the book "Owl Moon" by Jane Yolen read by the teacher (me) in a fun traditional story time format. Having a copy of the book is not necessary since this is "story time." Students will put their inspired touch on a creative project we will do together "classroom" style. The art project will support the story we have just read. The characters come alive in young learners minds with this multi-sensory approach to stories. Fun hands on learning at it's finest! *Please note, parental supervision during the art project is needed....otherwise, it could be "creatively" detrimental and we wouldn't want that!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have homeschooled for the past 18+ years (It's been so long I'm losing count). My husband and I have 5 children: 3 self sufficient adults now), 1 College and 1 in High School!
My teaching background has been primarily based on teaching my own children K-12. It is where I found a passion for learning! I have one child with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and dysgraphia. I had to learn how to teach to each child differently based on their learning styles and needs through workshops, books and classes.
Outside of educating in the home, my background is quite diverse. My writing has been published for feature articles in magazines, business writing, and resume writing. I have a strong professional background in sales and marketing and staff recruiting.
I consider myself a lifetime learner and always will. My hobbies include history, true crime (yes, I try to solve each and every one, haha) crocheting, quilting, cooking, art (pen & ink and charcoal), photography, homemaking. What do I love to teach? Things I am good at of course!
I try to bring hands on learning to most everything I do. To me, it's more enjoyable and leaves a lasting impression on your mind!
When not home schooling and teaching on Outschool, you will likely find me hiking with our boys, or quite possibly at a football game, baseball game, basketball game...you get the picture, basically on a field of some sort!
