Class Experience

KAPOW! BOOM! And welcome!

This is a short and exciting class all about comic books and how to create your own! Students will learn "storyboarding", "staging", "thumb nailing", and everything important when it comes to creating comics.

The first part of class will be focussed on learning about different types of comic books and how to turn your own idea/story into a comic strip. Then we will talk about exploring the many ways you can set up your panels and how to actually draw out your...

Students will learn how to come up with a story and how to actually put that story on paper for others to enjoy! We will learn key words like "thumb nailing", "staging", and "storyboarding", which will help us to explore the may ways you can create your comic panels. By the end of class, students will have the knowledge and confidence to draw their own comics at home!

I have a BFA degree in art and animation and have been teaching art classes for over 10 years! I have a lot of experience working with story development and comic book drawing and I LOVE teaching students of all ages all the techniques and tricks I've learned.

If students wish to draw along, simple art supplies will work just fine! I recommend having:
-A pencil or pen
-A few pieces of paper
-Colors (crayons or colored pencils)

1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
