Student engagement is the main way I understand whetehr or not students understand the story and pose or if I need to accommodate my teaching.Class Experience
Yoga is so good for the body! It creates calm, strength and focus. It helps developing muscles grow appropriately and increases body awareness in the young minds. I am a certified early ed and special educator. I have so much experience and know your child will love this class! Please note that each class has a lesson. For example, one week is hibernation themes. The greetings will be hibernation and winter themed. For the lesson, we would discuss what animals hibernate and I would have students share their favorite. Then the yoga poses will be different hibernation animals. Our story would continue the theme of hibernatiion such as Bear Snores On. We will end with our breathing song and relaxation time. The class schedule is as follows: 🧘♀️Greetings 🧘♀️A weekly question/theme/lesson (about 2 minutes) 🧘♀️Sharing Time 🧘♀️Themed story with matching Yoga poses 🧘♀️Surprise themed Yoga poses for matching vocabulary 🧘♀️Copycat Game 🧘♀️Breathing song 🧘♀️Relaxation time A more detailed description is here: This course will involve the enjoyment of literacy, while learning social skills and yoga poses. The class will start with introductions to make sure everyone is comfortable with one another. We will do fun movement greetings to our new friends. After this, we will talk briefly discuss a weekly question and share about our answers. Next, we will read a story. Visuals, yoga poses, chants and verbals will be used to go through the story. Some weeks have puppets or other enticing activities. Literacy questions will be asked throughout to reinforce comprehension and a love of literacy. Then we do some surprise themed yoga poses. Students will take turns creating their own yoga poses and playing a copycat game. This really ensures students get that social piece through interaction and the body. At the end, we will have a few minutes of cool down where we will sing, do breath work and lay down on our backs and relax until a bell rings. A stuffed animal, blanket or toy can be helpful at this time. HERE IS THE STORIES AND THEME LIST! Story and Themes below: 3/18-3/22: Animals and Goodnight Gorrilla 3/25-3/29: Animals and Brown Bear, Brown Bear 4/1-4/5:Animals and Bear Hunt 4/8-4/12:Animals and Lion Hunt *will be updated 2 weeks before last listed class based on interest and enrollment or teacher schedule* My teaching style is very interactive and fun. I enjoy singing, moving and using many pictures to help students attend and understand fully. Students will not need any prior knowledge. Whether they are an expert or still learning, this class can accommodate everyone. *Please advise this class is about seasonal themes; winter snow, hibernation, valentines day, holidays etc. If you feel comfortable with this, please join. **THIS CLASS IS SPECIAL EDUCATION FRIENDLY! I provide visuals, a visual schedule, sentence visuals, and a fun and engaging environment! I was a special education teacher for several years. Please give this class a try and message me if you have concerns.** MUTE/UNMUTE: Have you child practice mute and unmute or be present if they need help. I love to have student speak freely but need to acknowledge background noise or echoes to keep the environment conducive to learning. ___________________________________________________________ Keywords: Winter, Preschool, Party, Christmas, Yoga, Hibernation, Halloween, Winter, Christmas, St. Patricks Day, Summer, Spring, games, pre-k, yoga, movement, dance, story, preschool, kindergarten, move, party, social, autism, special education
