In this class we will begin by discussing the importance of characters, plot and setting in stories. I will explain how to weave these three elements into an exciting short story. In our first meeting we will brainstorm about the child's favorite animal and create a rough outline of ideas for a plot and setting for this animal story. Students will learn the components of all stories (characters, plot, setting) and will have an opportunity to use this knowledge in a short story about an animal.
After class one and class two, children will be given specific instructions on how to improve their writing before the ext class.
Students should have lined writing paper or a notebook and pen or pencil to complete work in class.
2 hours 15 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
