Join me for this ongoing storytime as we read a new King and Kayla book each week. King & Kayla is an easy reader chapter book series about a lovable dog who helps his human girl solve mysteries. The stories are told from the perspective of King, a golden retriever with a nose for solving mysteries. Learners will listen as I read aloud the story. I will pause throughout so that we can discuss our thinking, make predictions, etc. My screen will be shared with students to display the story for them. Students are encouraged to bring their favorite stuffed animal or have their furry friend join us for our read-aloud. After our reading, students can participate in a reading comprehension review of our story by going through some questions together. They will also have an opportunity to tell about their furry friend or share a special toy/stuffed animal with the class. Students are welcome to draw and color as I read aloud. They may bring paper and crayons to use during our session. After our read-aloud, they will have an opportunity to share their picture with the group. **Books do not build upon each other and do not need to be read in any particular order. Learners may join or leave this class at any time. I have a passion for teaching reading. I've taught 2nd grade for 8 years and have a Masters in Reading. I believe that reading is fundamental. I want students to become lifelong readers and develop a love for reading. I believe the best way to achieve this is to create a reading environment and give students access to a variety of books.
