Description
Class Experience
This lesson will support children with their literacy skills as well as personal and social-emotional development. I will start the lesson off by reading a story about a mouse with a mission to take care of his town, his new friendship and helping the smaller mice with a schoolyard bully. They will build on their vocabulary and working on their comprehension skills. They will be asked the 5 ‘W’ questions to gain a better understanding of the story. This class is taught in English.
In this lesson the students will have an opportunity to develop their literacy and reading comprehension strategies before, during and after having a story read to them. They will make inferences and predictions about the text and extend on their understanding by connecting their previous knowledge and experiences to the text. They are also increasing their ability to make friends and keep friends. This activity is designed to support children’s knowledge about feelings and social relationships.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
40 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
