In this one time class we will read one of my favourite Robert Munsch books, Smelly Socks. After we read we will take time to review what we read in our book while having fun chatting and creating our very own smelly socks picture. During my story time class students will have lots of opportunity to engage with the story as I take a relaxed and fun approach to my story time classes. If your learner enjoys reading, having fun, and talking with friends then this class is for them. Here is the class breakdown: Welcome: I take this opportunity to engage with each student and we get to know each other. Wiggle break: We take a few minutes to get our wiggles out. Story time: We have fun reading and predicting what will happen in our book. Story time questions: We will answer questions about the story we have read. Colouring time: We will have fun working on a book themed colouring page together and talking about a variety of topics in the book. I can't wait to meet your learner and have lots of fun reading with them!
Learning Goals
- Reading provides many benefits (listening, comprehension, etc.)
- Colouring pages allow them to work on fine motor skills and creativity
- Discussion time allows them to learn socialization skills such as taking turns, listening, and speaking to others
- Book discussion allows for them to practice basic book comprehension principles
This class is meant to allow learners to discover the joy and benefits of reading.
