30 mins in-class hours per weekClass Experience
Each week, we will read popular kid stories of books that I let my students at school read in our classroom library! Your child will love visiting places, meeting new characters, and exploring the world of literacy! We will read in an engaging and interactive way where they will get asked questions about the characters and events in stories to elicit deeper understanding and listening comprehension skills. This class is a great way for students to find what genre of books and topic of books that they like which will in turn help them become a better reader. We will read books from many authors and topics including these titles for example: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs by Judi Barrett The Cat in the hat by Dr. Seuss If You Give a Mouse a Cookie by Laura Numeroff The Day The Crayons Quit by Drew Daywalt Pig the Pug by Aaron Blabey Where The Wild Things Are by Maurice Sendak Giraffes Can't Dance by Giles Andreae Oh the Places You'll Go by Dr. Seuss A Sick Day for Amos McGee by Philip C. Stead and much more...

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! My name is Madison!
I am an elementary school teacher who loves my kiddos!
I teach/tutor math and reading skills focused on first -third grade content.
I've taught 3rd grade for 3 years and 2nd grade for 1 year. I am currently teaching 4th grade. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and in the top 10% of my graduating class from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. There, I completed my Bachelor's of Elementary education as well as a concentration and certification in K-12 Reading Education.
I believe in hands on learning through manipulatives and drawings in math scenarios. I believe in higher order thinking questions that allow deeper understanding of content. I believe that any student can learn and learn well if taught with the right approach.
I have a lot of classes available that speak on my hobbies and interests that are both academic and nonacademic. I love to bake and cook. I absolutely love science and reading is so important to me!
I am a wife and dog mom of an Australian Shepherd puppy, so I love to share about my dog when I can (especially in my dog treat classes)
