45 mins in-class hours per weekHomework
1 hour per week. Homework [Optional but strongly suggested]: After each class, learner rewrites the story making changes to the story EX: different characters in their story, different ending, the learner him/herself as a character in their story. After the rewrite, please post a video in the classroom of the learner retelling their story. SUGGESTION: Parents, grandparents, older siblings read a book aloud of the learner's choice as the learner draws the story in sequence. Great practice for building listening skills, exposure to new literature, visualizing the story, and retelling the story in a comfortable setting with family members.Class Experience
US Grade 2 - 4
This class is especially designed for learners ages 7-10 who want to become great story tellers, whether they know it or not. Learners listen, think and predict what will happen next, how the story will end, what changes they would make, could they be a character in the story? or do they know someone who is like one of the characters? Learners will learn the basics of storyboarding but on drawing paper first [transition to index cards as they get older]. These are teacher-directed lessons, reading aloud, demonstrating how to fold and number each section of the drawing paper [getting their storyboard ready] step-by step as the learner follows directions. Learners will be given the opportunity to practice basic public speaking in a small, comfortable setting by retelling the story. Book titles and themes vary week-to-week. Additional book titles are added as the weeks progress. SPECIAL NOTE TO PARENTS: Shy learners may want to just listen to the story being read and draw their own pictures.
