Class Experience
The class will begin with introductions. I will then sing a welcoming song followed by a read-aloud of a story called I Wish I Were a Butterfly by James Howe. The story is about a cricket who is unhappy being a cricket and wishes he were a butterfly. I will include gentle questioning about predictions and invitations to reflect and comment. I am a certified teacher with a bachelor's degree in elementary education and a master's degree in special education (specializing in teaching students who are deaf/HH). I taught grade 1 for more than 20 years and did educational interpreting for deaf students as well.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
