Thank you for considering this class! I love Eric Carle's artwork and books, and "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" is the well known classic about a little caterpillar who eats a lot and becomes a beautiful butterfly. In our class we will practice listening and counting as the caterpillar makes it's way through many kinds of food. We will discuss and enjoy the artwork of Eric Carle and then create a piece of artwork of our own! Your learner can make a tissue paper butterfly with the class using the printable page and tissue paper. Another option is a caterpillar coloring sheet that would be great for some crayons, colored pencils or markers. Learners do not need any prior experience for this class.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! I am Teacher Amber! I am a licensed elementary teacher in Kansas and a mom of a 5 and 7 year old. We are a family that loves spending time outdoors camping, hiking, and biking. We love exploring our own state as well as traveling to the mountains.
I love to teach phonemic awareness, phonics, and other early reading skills. I enjoy helping kids get excited about their journey to be readers, whatever stage that may be.
I also enjoy facilitating social time between young learners. I like to give them a space to practice speaking and conversational skills.
I believe it's important for kids to feel successful at whatever stage they are in with what they are learning. I ensure this by meeting the student where they are and moi building on what they already know.
Whenever we are not adventuring and I am not teaching I spend my free time cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing!
