In this one-time class, we will read a fun book about Pinkalicious and the Cupcake Calamity by Victoria Kann. We will learn vocabulary words prior to reading. Students will decorate a cupcake with items from around the home. The cupcake will be available to print after enrolling. While completing the craft, we will discuss some literary elements including characters/setting and work on comprehension skills. Students will also be given an opportunity to read a portion of the book, if they desire to (it is not required). Opportunities for discussion will be provided and encouraged but not required. Learners may also wear pink to class, if desired.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am a work-from-home, homeschooling mom to my 10-year-old daughter, Harlie. We have 2 dogs, 2 cats, and 4 chickens! I love to read, cook, and do crafts! I also LOVE to teach! I believe that learning should be fun so I am always looking for ways to incorporate fun into learning using play-based learning strategies.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. I have over 20 years experience working with children. I taught second grade before welcoming my daughter into the world and beginning my role as a stay-at-home mom. I have enjoyed homeschooling her since preschool as well as teaching homeschool co-ops and other groups. I taught preschool aged children in the day care setting and have taught at church for over 12 years. For the past three and a half years I have taught English online to children in Asia ranging from preschool to age 13. I love to teach the alphabet, colors, phonics and reading comprehension. I also enjoy history, science, and social studies. Due to dietary restrictions in my household, I enjoy trying new recipes and am excited to teach eager learners these delicious foods!
I can’t wait to see your learner in my classroom!
TIPS FOR CLASS/MUTING:
I strive to encourage all learners to participate in class and typically will leave them unmuted. If you feel the learner needs to be muted due to background noise, I understand. Feel free to mute as needed.
If background noise is distracting to other learners, I will mute as needed.
Class rules to be discussed with learners at the beginning of class:
1. Listen
2. Look
3. Raise your hand and wait for your name to be called

REFUNDS & TRANSFERS:
Outschool's refund policy: "Full refund within 24 hours of purchase or up to a week in advance of the class."
For one-time classes:
If you know you will be unable to attend class please request a transfer at least 24 hours in advance. I will not be able to transfer or refund after class.
It is best to test Zoom before class begins. I may not always see comments or messages while I am teaching as I want to give my students my undivided attention.

CLASS CANCELLATIONS:
If a class has not met the minimum number of enrollments, it is subject to being canceled. I will be in contact to see if you would like to transfer or oils like a refund. If I do not receive a response, I will refund.
