30 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
In this one time story time class, we will read a story about a cute mouse named Aberdeen. We will draw Aberdeen and cut out a paper balloon for him to catch. I have set the maximum number of students to 4 so that each student will have a chance to share their drawing, if they would like. I will read Aberdeen by Stacey Previn. We will talk about the story and review the story sequence. We will draw Aberdeen. Then we will draw a balloon on red construction paper and cut it out. Parents may need to assist with scissors. We will then glue the balloon onto our drawings to make it look like the balloon escaped Aberdeen's hand. We will draw the balloon string. Students can create their own background scene. Students are free to talk and share as they work.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I am Mrs. Alicia. I teach creative art classes. Creative art classes are classes that not only teach basic art skills but encourage and strengthen a child’s natural creativity.
My teaching style is laid back and light. I enjoy talking to my students and socializing is encouraged in my classes. I only ask that my students work while they talk so they can complete their project.
I encourage my students to try. Some of my projects are challenging but I remind students that very few people get it right the first time. Art takes practice and it is ok to try again.
I work with students on problem solving. Mistakes happen. What can you do to fix that mistake? Sometimes the mistake can be erased or turned into something else and sometimes it can’t. If the mistake can’t be fixed, then maybe the problem isn’t the mistake but how we look at it. Mistakes in art can create interest in our drawing or painting.
I have an associate degree in Early Childhood Education, which includes Early Childhood Credentials. I use the knowledge I gained while working towards my degree to create age-appropriate activities for my students. I also use this knowledge to create a fun classroom environment where every student feels welcome, included, and important.
I am so excited to share my love of art and the creative process with your children. Thank you for your interest in my classes.
