Class Experience

RECOMMENDED AGES: The listed ages are 8-12, as a broad recommendation. My intention is that most of the books presented will fall somewhere in the 4th to 6th grade reading range. But, this is not a hard and fast rule! I'm happy to have students bring books either slightly simpler or slightly more complex. I want them to be able to select books that they truly find delightful!

Students will practice these skills:
*summarizing a plot
*elements to include in a book review
*speech delivery
*polite listening

BS in English Education, 30+ years teaching experience, former homeschool mom/loving Nana

Students should think through and prepare a short presentation for their favorite books. I will provide a worksheet to help them prepare. They are welcome to be as creative as they would like.

Students should bring up to three of their favorite books, and be prepared to explain why they love these books.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

45 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
