In Ms. Julie and Pippa's classes, the focus is on keeping kids connected, engaged, learning and smiling. In Story Stars, we play to learn storytelling, acting, and early literacy skills. Feel free to jump into the class at any point in its run; we'll do something new each week, so your learner won't be behind if they didn't start at the beginning. We will engage in the following activities in every 30-minute class: - 👋🎵 Sing good morning and check on our friends' feelings - 🎭 Tell and act out our story - 💭 Discuss a literacy point in the story (e.g. characters, plot, moral, etc.) - 🎶🎯 Sing, dance, or play a fun and silly game with our new knowledge - 📚 Read and interact with a theme-related book - 👋🎶 Sing a goodbye song Our class will include lots of movement, so students will need at least enough room to spin with their arms out. ⏰ Please note that my classes may go about 5 minutes over the 30-minute class time limit. I always prioritize student voice, and like to allow class to flow naturally, which means timing is not always predictable. If you need to leave right at the end of class, that's always ok! I'll often offer to say goodbye and stick around with those students who are able. 🤫 To limit background noise and distraction, students will be muted unless it is their turn to talk. 🔇 As a teacher, I am only able to request that your learner unmute; I cannot unmute them myself! 📢 If your child is unable to reliably unmute their microphone, please stay close by so that you can assist. I will help children develop this technological literacy as our classes together go forward. 📝🎉 At the end of class, I will provide an optional themed extension activity to keep the fun times rolling throughout your day, wherever it may take you. Feel free to sign up for one class at a time, or to join each week! Parental Guidance
We will be doing some moving and dancing, but nothing extreme. An open space will make your learner more successful, but if it's not an option for their situation, not to worry! We can always make changes as necessary.
No violent play or weapon play is allowed in class.
