Class Experience

In this class, learners will listen to and participate in the reading of The Pout-Pout Fish and the Bully-Bully Shark (Written by Deborah Diesen). Learners will use expressive reading and answer questions as a group throughout the story.

The Pout-Pout Fish and the Bully-Bully Shark is a story filled with valuable life lessons. Throughout class, we will talk about what a bully is, what it means to be kind, how we feel when someone treats us with kindness, and how we should/shouldn't speak to our friends. Learners will have a chance to practice the important skills of patience, encouraging their peers, following step-by-step directions, and express their own unique creativity.

After the story and discussion, learners will follow along with me and create their own shark (step-by-step drawing tutorial).
Learners are encouraged to add their own detail/unique twist to their drawings. Before the drawing tutorial, we will talk about how although we all look different from one another, we are all awesome and amazing! Our drawings are just like us - though they may look different from one another, they will all be awesome, amazing, and super cool!

Listening to stories is a great way for your learner to expand their vocabulary, ability to focus, and concentration. Listening to stories is a way to encourage imagination and increase their understanding of the world around them (helping them learn life lessons in a simple, fun way!).
