In this class, we will study the folk tales, mythology, and legends of Russia and gain all the benefits of travel from the comfort of our own homes. Students in this class will learn facts about history and culture through the lens of popular folk tales and legends. Your child will learn to apply concepts from the core subjects of social studies, history, and literature. Students will come away from this class with an understanding of how stories shape and are shaped by people and cultures and gain a genuine excitement for storytelling.
I have taught social studies and history as a tutor, substitute teacher, and homeschool teacher, and therefore have experience in covering sensitive topics that involve war, violence, and death in a manner appropriate for children.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Since we will be discussing topics like folk tales and mythology, there is the occasional mention of war, violence, and death. Parents and students should be aware that Russian folklore includes some creepy characters, but we will focus mostly on the epic and funny stories. With a bachelor's degree in history and experience teaching both history and literature, I am equipped to discuss topics like these without going into any unnecessary details, while still bringing the essence of a story to life.
