Class Experience

Students will listen to a different book each week. Students will have slides that they will use during parts of the story. These will allow the students to read along with the teacher for certain parts of the story. This will increase reading fluency in emerging readers and also help introduce new readings to common sight words. Reading aloud together helps students to gain reading confidence and build fluency without stress. Students will also learn to read for punctuation. Learning to read for punctuation helps early readers become excellent writers in the future.

Students will have the opportunity to interact with other students and have social time in the class. After we read our story each week we will draw and color moments from the story. Students can share the art if they would like. This allows for students to build skills in public speaking. Children are not forced to share their drawing. This class is a good opportunity for a shy child to step into public speaking slowly and easily and find their inner confidence.

Students should bring paper to class as well as something to color or draw with. They will not require any other materials.

Our stories will vary greatly. Our stories will range from easy readers to classes picture books. Please check the chart below to see what stories may be coming up in our schedule.

Each month students can download a "Story Book Club" extended study pack. This will include themed worksheets from our story times and study guides to increase vocabulary, reading readiness, and language arts skill boosters. Art projects included

Week of 3/10- The Mitten by Jan Brett

Week of 3/17- Little Critter - My Trip To The Hospital by Mercer Mayer

week of 4/7 - If You Give A Mouse A Muffin by Laura Joffee Numeroff

week of 4/14- Duck In The Truck by Jez Alborough

week 4/21- Little Critter - This Is My Friend by Mercer Mayer
Learning Goals
Improve skill in reading, vocabulary, and public speaking/presentation skills. We will also improve motor skill functions by drawing during our art time. Art time is simple and involves what we have learned in our reading. We might draw main characters, settings, nouns, make different endings to the story ect. Art is always connected to the reading lesson to reinforce new and important concepts.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello Friends,

I would like to welcome you to learning and growing through immersion in core subject areas. I specialize in Japanese, Korean, English Language Arts, American History, and Physics. Classes are always interactive and encourage participation, interaction, and hands on virtual components to keep learners engaged.

I am excited to teach your student and strive to make our lesson time valuable. I have put in extensive time creating all curriculum, activities, handouts, and course information to make the most of our class time!

My background includes studying at Charter Oak State College, earning a TESOL from Glasgow University, Scotland, UK, and earning extensive teaching certificates from the TEXAS A&M Extension Program. I have previously lived in Tokyo, Japan for four years. During that time I completed the Defense Language Institute Korean and Japanese Programs. I have also attended the Cyber Institute of Korea for Korean language studies, Hanyang University and Yonsei University (located in Korea) for additional Korean language courses of study. I enjoy furthering my experience and continue to take additional courses to increase my knowledge in several subject areas.

My experience includes teaching Japanese culture and language, Korean culture and language, and English as a second language. I have also taught core subjects through homeschool co-op classes with classrooms of up to 20 students.

I currently own and operate an online K-6 school called Noble Homeschool Academy where homeschoolers participate in core subjects as well as foreign language, art, music, and book club. I have been teaching for fourteen years and hope to enjoy many more years of teaching!

I have experience with students in grades K-8. Creating engaging curriculum will open the mind of any reluctant learner. I enjoy watching my students find a new interest and love of learning with every class.

My extensive online teaching experience allows your student to enjoy an interactive environment even though we are virtual! My journey as a military spouse has taken my all over the world and I enjoy inserting the knowledge and experiences into educational content that children may not get to otherwise experience. I understand the difficulties students face learning new and challenging content. I believe that my classes are light hearted and encouraging but packed full of substance!
