In this ongoing 1x a week class we will be reading a picture book and drawing; students will build reading skills and increase fluency.
Class experience
Students will listen to a different book each week. Students will have slides that they will use during parts of the story. These will allow the students to read along with the teacher for certain parts of the story. This will increase reading fluency in emerging readers and also help introduce new readings to common sight words. Improve skill in reading, vocabulary, and public speaking/presentation skills. We will also improve motor skill functions by drawing during our art time. Art time is simple and involves what we have learned in our reading. We might draw main characters, settings, nouns, make different endings to the story ect. Art is always connected to the reading lesson to reinforce new and important concepts.
