Stop Teasing Now - Social Skills to Stop Teasing Today (Autism, ADHD, anxiety)
Taught by a 25-year veteran speech language pathologist and a mom of a child with autism, this 2 part class will help learners develop skills to recognize and respond to teasing in a way that stops teasing on the spot.

Class Experience
LEARNERS WILL BE ABLE TO ~Define teasing - playful and mean ~Identify playful teasing versus mean teasing ~Learn step-by-step what to do when being teased ~Explain WHY kids tease ~Practice what to do when being teased ~Create comebacks for your teaser to get them to STOP

There will be a homework suggestion at the end of the lesson.
Quiet space with face in the screen. Microphone muted until asked to answer a question or share an experience.
A letter will be sent to the family following the session outlining progress, strengths, and weaknesses observed.
50 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
No parental guidance required for Youtube or GImKit. These tools will be used through screen-sharing only and no account is required. For movement activity, (learners may decline activity) learners will need an open workout space, proper footwear, a water bottle if needed, and adequate stretching beforehand. Movement activities include running in place and arm and hand movements.
We will use the website YouTube through screen sharing to watch short pre-selected video clips of social situations which depict persons from a variety of ethnic backgrounds. We will use GimKit for trivia games. We will use the book "Spotlight on Social Skills - Elementary" as a main part of our curriculum.
