Class Experience
Students will learn reasons why some people choose to tease others. With an awareness of factors that cause children to tease, students will gain the ability to deal with the teasing in constructive ways. Students will learn helpful tips for staying calm in situations in which they are being teased and ways to: use I-messages, apologize when necessary, give compliments, show kindness, talk to the teaser, ignore the teasing, use humor, and other techniques for controlling teasing and...
I have a Specialist Degree in Education with a major in Educational Psychology and Counselor Education. I have been guiding students for 15 years in areas such as anger management, social skills, character education, career awareness and academic improvement. I have worked directly with many students who have been teased and the teasers themselves.
Students will be encouraged to practice the tools for stopping the teasers.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
Nearpod, Kahoot and flipgrid will be used in weekly lessons. These platforms are user friendly learning tools that engage students with interactive lessons videos and activities. There is no account required. A link with a secure code for each lesson will be provided to students.
