Students will learn reasons why some children tease others and the hurt such behavior causes. With an awareness of factors that cause children to tease, students will gain the ability to deal with the teasing in constructive ways. Students will learn to be assertive with a teaser while remaining calm and using no violence. They will also learn ways to: use I-messages, apologize when necessary, give compliments, show kindness, talk to the teaser, ignore the teasing, use humor, and other techniques for controlling teasing and overcoming the hurtful nature of teasing. Students must be logged into Nearpod before joining the zoom classroom to participate in the interactive activities and the fun "time to climb" review game at the end of each class. Classes will be interactive and may have slides, youtube video clips, discussion and Nearpod interactive activities. No previous knowledge or experience needed. Nearpod will be used in this class and information will be shared with learners before the class begins to help them login to Nearpod. This class is not in any way intended to be therapeutic. If your learner needs the assistance of counseling or therapy, please seek that for your learner. This is an instructional class only.
