Class experience
In this course, students will be introduced to the style of stop-motion animation (if unfamiliar), and all components required to create a successful short movie animation. We will discuss about the importance of planning, technical details, and editing short stop motion film using the Stop Motion App. Students will need to download this app--the FREE version is all that is required for the course. The class will be hands-on, with live demonstration and then time for students to work on...
By the end of the class, students will produce a short finished animated film using the Stop Motion app. They will also have learned how to create a homemade tripod, and the important elements of creating a successful stop motion film.
I have been teaching video production/film classes for over ten years, and my middle school students frequently win local and state-wide film competitions, largely attributed to their skillful use of many of iMovie's tools that take their student films to much more mature, advanced levels that rival their peers, along with great storytelling and engaging stop motion animation.

Students will also need a method to stabilize their device (phone, iPad) to capture footage. We will review ways to create simple "tripods"using common household objects. For the media type that students will film, they can choose everyday objects, blocks, clay, or their own artwork.
