Students are introduced to a form of animation that uses pictures to create movement with objects. Students will learn about a type of animation called "Stop Motion." Stop Motion is fun and engaging! We will engage in 21st Century Skills: creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. These skills are essential for developing the vital skills needed in our fast-paced, competitive society. In this one-time class, students will learn about and practice to stop motion, learning how to create a storyboard, learn about essentials to set up their stop motion set, and practice using the materials they have brought to class. Students will be able to leave class with a basic understanding of how to create their very own animated videos. They will know to create simple to elaborate videos with more practice outside of class. Students will need a device with the Stop Motion Studio Pro App downloaded before class. Students will also need to have various toy objects from the home they will use to create an animation using those materials. If you have any questions, please send me a message. Thank you! PLEASE NOTE: Students will need the Stop Motion Studio Pro App INSTALLED before class. The paid version has more features. If you choose to have the free version, your child will learn about the other options available, but they will not use them in the free version. We will not cover all the settings in the app (ex., green screen or more advanced editing). These skills are covered in the longer 2-day class or the 3-day class. It is also essential to have a second device to create their video and still participate easily with the class. Students will need to have the Stop Motion Animation Studio Pro version of the app. The app can be found listed in the class resources. This app does cost extra. Per the Stop Motion Studio App, "Your privacy is important. That's why we do not collect, use, disclose, transfer or store any data. All data is stored locally on the device. No data is transferred from the app without user consent (video upload). Our apps do not track the user and do not display advertisements."
