During this class, students will learn the fundamental basics of the Stock Market process. In this class I will break down what the stock market process with the students. The students will be researching their companies with my guidance and playing the Stock Market Game with a $100,000 virtual cash during the second session of the class. (The game site is online and does require that students go to it: www.howthemarketworks.com and to create an account.) Topics that will be covered are: - Why the stock market exists - How publicly traded companies work (VS Private) - When to sell, when to buy - Apps for trading stocks - What are penny stocks? - What are Capital Gains? -Key Vocabulary Terms For some classes, I will ask Mr. Andrae to give additional information to students that need some additional support in understanding the www.finance.yahoo.com chart and also the howthemarketworksgame.com Structure of the Class: Opening Class Section Closing and Q and A. This class is an introduction class to stocks, no previous knowledge is necessary. Let's have some fun and learn.

During the first class session, students will take notes, discuss and watch 2 video clips. In addition, during the second class session, students will research, review 2 video clips and play the Stock Market Game with the companies that they have selected with a $100,000 virtual cash online.

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
