Description
Class Experience
Step Up to 5th Grade is a set of courses that together will cover all of the major math concepts that your child will see during their 5th grade year. We will always start the unit with the vocabulary associated with the learning subject. The course will go over the main areas of Common Core and the different strategies that the students will be introduced to throughout the school year. - In this section of the Step Up to 5th Grade it will be a three work course going over division skills....
Students will learn the associated 5th grade vocabulary for Division. They will learn three main strategies to solving multi-digit division problems. In 5th grade students are required to know how to divide 3-digits by 2-digit division problems. This will be taught in a scaffolding method using the different strategies on the way.
There will only be a few problems left at the end of each class for the students to have completed or solved before the next class. We will begin our following class with reviewing over the strategy from before and these problems that were left for them to solve.
Sharpened pencil / Colored Pencils one notebook of student choice - Must bring the same notebook back to every class
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
The only materials my class will require is a sharpened pencil and a notebook. I prefer them to use the same notebook throughout the entire course so all of their notes, examples and problems are in one place and can be referred back too.
