Are you brand new to Scratch? Curious about learning to code? You are in the right place! With so many coding classes and platforms out there, it's hard to know where to start. This class - with a small class size - will get you started in a fun and encouraging environment. By the end of the session, you will know how to use the sprites, backgrounds, and blocks in Scratch. Using the K-12 computer science framework, you'll also learn important concepts and vocabulary. In class, you'll complete your first Scratch program. You'll be ready to join future Scratch classes or continue learning on your own. Computer science is for everyone. Scratch is a great introduction to coding and computer science concepts. Learn to create your own animations, games, and programs. Think creatively, reason, and collaborate. With Scratch, you'll practice these essential skills for everyone in today’s society. Learners should set up their Scratch account before class begins. Create your free account at https://scratch.mit.edu/.

Parental Guidance
This class works best when learners are able to share their screens on Zoom. If your learner prefers to work on two devices, that's ok. Please sign in to the Outschool classroom on both devices, leaving one muted. This way, your learner can share their screen if they get stuck. It is helpful to have an adult nearby for setup if your learner is unfamiliar with screen sharing or navigating between Zoom and a browser.
