This is an advanced step dance class where learners can have some fun while learning cool step dance choreography! Each week, learners will be taught choreography that includes at least 2 step dance moves. If there is time left at the end, any learners who would like to show off what they have learned can present to the class...they can even add their own flare to the dance if they like! As this is an ongoing class, there will be no continuation between classes so something new will be...
I was the leader, the main choreographer and a performer for my church step dance team for about 18 years. Throughout that time there were many different members (both children and teenagers) so I was able to hone my teaching skills in order to maintain a dynamic team of dancers. I have always loved teaching step and have a lot of patience with new step dancers!
Students are encouraged to practice what they have learned and put together their own dance routines when they have learned enough moves!
Learners should dress in comfortable clothing that will allow them to move their arms and legs easily. They are encouraged to wear shoes to protect their feet and maintain their balance on slippery surfaces. Learners should also be in a space where they can move around a bit.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
50 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Dance moves may require some bending, clapping, stomping, jumping and hitting the body. Adequate room is needed all around learners so they can execute the steps without being obstructed. As this is a quick class, learners are expected to warm up before the class begins and are encouraged to warm up and cool down on their own before and after every class and practice session.
