This course encourages learners to explore the world of hands on STEM. Each week learners will follow guided parameters to construct and build a structural STEM challenge. Each 60 minute session the teacher will introduce review the instructions for that week's STEM challenge and give students 10 to 15 minutes to accomplish the task. Learners will have an opportunity to share their accomplishment and unique strategies before the instructor shares the methodical scientific strategy behind...
This class is taught in English.
Materials will be needed for this class. Some may be found around the home some may be items you need to purchase. The specific required items will be posted one week an advanced for each challenge. A sample list of items includes the following: plastic straws tape cotton balls string pennies pop sickle sticks plastic cups dry spaghetti marshmallows ruler pair of scissors plastic bottle Optional class handouts
1 hour per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Youtube clips approximately 5 minutes long are screen shared during class to illustrate structural design strategies. Parental consent is not required for this feature. Parental guidance during class is recommended but not required as materials utilized are safe household items for this age group.
