We will discuss the three states of matter: solid, liquid, gas as well as what matter, mass and volume are. Additional discussion of melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation. We will have a hands on experiment: self inflating balloon Information will be presented through discussion and slides. Students will have an observation sheet to complete during the class including predictions and an illustration of the experiment. Welcome 4-5 minutes Discussion of States of Matter 18-22 minutes Experiment 15-25 minutes Summary and discussion 5-8 minutes
Learning Goals
Students will discuss and experiment with the three states of matter as well as vocabulary: matter, mass, volume, melting, freezing, evaporation and condensation.

Supply List
Please have 1 large balloon, empty plastic water bottle, white vinegar, 2-3 spoonfuls of baking soda, small funnel, spoon, pen or pencil.

I served the Director of Ancillary Services tasked with planning and executing summer and winter camps at a PK-12 school. I hold a degree in Psychology and an MBA, a 150-hour master teacher certificate for teaching English as a second language courses and have served as a college counselor for almost 5 years advising students and families on the college acceptance process. I have taught middle school-math, reading and experimental science, have been an academic administrator in a Pre-K 12 school and was a founding director of a Learning Center.
