SNAP CIRCUITS LIGHT!

In this class, students will explore the different properties of light and multiple applications using snap circuits (the Lego of electronics). We will create fun projects that will spark student's creativity.

For this class, it is required to have the Snap Circuits Light Set (model SC-175).

During each project, I will explain the principles of light theory and how the circuit operates. We will discuss how each component work and we connect the circuit in a particular way.

We will do some games with the class as well to maintain a balance between education and fun!

CLASS SCHEDULE:
Session 1: Students will learn principles of light and apply them to simple circuits.
Components used:
- LEDs
- Switches
- Batteries
- Resistors
- Motors
- Circuits in Series and Parallel

Session 2: Students will learn about the RGB color model in which red, green, and blue light are added together in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors.
Components used:
- Color selectors

Session 3: Students will learn the principles of Strobes and their application of light in circuits.
Components used:
- Strobes
- Resistors

Session 4: Students will learn the principles of Variable Resistors and phototransistors where they will combine their applications with Integrated Circuits
Components used:
- Phototransistors
- Variable Resistors
- Integrated Circuits

Session 5: Students will learn the principles of Fiber Optics, Capacitors, where they will apply them to control patterns and frequency variation in light circuits.
Components used:
- Fiber Optics
- Capacitors
- Combination of components

The learning objectives will be primarily focused on:
- Light properties and applications
- Photo-transistors
- Fiber Optics
- Integrated Circuits

Additional skills to be gained from this class:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION (PLEASE READ THE POLICIES BEFORE BOOKING): - Please ensure you have the right materials prior to starting the summer camp. I will not accommodate transfer requests for not having the right set or not having a set at all. - This class has a limited refund policy, Full refund until a week in advance, or within 24 hours of purchase (until class starts). - Transfer requests for classes need to be made at least 24 hours prior of starting time. This allows enough time for another student to enroll. - If you have a conflict with one of the classes, please let me know BEFORE THE SESSION and I will try to move the student to a different date/time for that session (upon availability). - Missed classes cannot be made up at another time or date. students who missed a class can request the recording of the missed session. -Student Age group and Parent Support: Please note that this class tries to keep a balance between experienced students and new students who may need more time. Age may be also a factor in the performance and enjoyment of the class. If your child is 6 years of age or under, a parent may need to support the student in the circuit buailding process as well as guiding him to remain focused on the projects being worked on.
