Class Experience

Brand New Material: My STEM class families have asked for summer sessions. I am delighted to offer several mini-camps with totally different content. I created new lessons that do not repeat anything from my STEM courses. Thanks!

Students age 3 are welcome but will need more help with the lessons.

We need at least 2 students in each class section. If your child is the only one in a section, you have the option of switching to another. Thanks!

This is one of my 8 unique STEM camps for June-August 2021. There are 3 different topics under the "Captivating Chemistry Camp" series and 5 different topics under the "Summer STEM Science Camp" series. Thanks for all the time requests! I have added more sections. :)

Ponds may be small but they are busy places! Let's take a look at the living things found in and around ponds.

What will my child learn?

This is an introduction to pond life and is a fun starting point for interested students. We will use a few printables. Your child will need the printables, crayons, scissors, and glue.

Day 1: What is a pond? (sizes, locations, items found nearby, no materials needed)

Day 2: All About Frogs! (Learn about a frog"s life cycle, diet, body, and fun facts while creating a simple project. Your child will need the printable, crayons, scissors, and glue.)

Day 3: Ducks (Learn about a duck"s life cycle, diet, body, and fun facts while creating a simple project. Your child will need the printable, blue construction paper, crayons, scissors, and glue.)

Day 4: What else is in a pond? (plants, fish, insects, Depending on the students' interests/abilities, there may be a simple craft in this lesson. I will let you know in advance, but it will only require scissors, glue, crayons, and paper.)

Does your child love science? Let's work on that together!

My semester-long STEM classes have inspired me to create summer camps around insects, animals, rainbows, camping, and ocean creatures.

I have 8 unique camp courses this summer that will spark your child's interest in chemistry and biology.

I believe that when children are excited about a topic, it is an opportunity to encourage learning...and reading!

I want all students to become bookworms. I believe it is possible, even for below-level students, reluctant readers, or non-native speakers.

Each and every class I make contains powerful words and language skills. I use loads of books as I plan and enjoy sharing the titles with my learners.

My experience:

-3 years teaching preschool

-20 years as an elementary school teacher

-4 years as an ESL teacher for ages 3-adult

-3 years of freelance writing, including creating curricula for two e-learning companies

-1 year editing books for a reading app

-Master’s degree in Education

-TESOL certificate

I have a calm, patient teaching style and have worked with:

-special needs students
-children with speech issues
-ESL students
-homebound students
-students with mental health disorders

When I am not teaching, I am reading, cooking, gardening, or walking. (And creating more classes!)

I cannot wait to see you in my class!
