In this one time STEM class, Learners will explore and expand on STEM concepts. As a class we will play an ice breaker game to get to know one another. We will then learn about igloos and look at pictures of different types of igloos from around the world. We will then brainstorm as a class ideas for our igloo build. As with any hands-on STEM class safety is of the upmost important. To ensure learner's safety we will go over rules and guidelines prior to our build. Learner's will participate in a short, interactive safety quiz to ensure their understanding of safety concepts. After that learners will be lead through instructions on building their very own igloo! As a class we will share our builds and discuss how we could improve upon our igloo.

Teacher expertise and credentials
*PLEASE NOTE, MY AVALIABILITY IS CURRENTLY LIMITED DUE TO ONGOING HEALTH CONCERNS, I HOPE TO BE BACK TO MY REGULAR SCHEDULE IN THE NEW YEAR* Hello Everyone! I am an Early Childhood Educator (registered with the province of Ontario, Canada). I am passionate about teaching STEAM and life skills. I have been teaching for about 3 years now but have over 10 years of experience working with children. My personal philosophy of Early Childhood Education is that all children should be allowed the opportunity to have some control over their education. Children must be able to learn through life experiences, including manipulating materials, moving their bodies, listening, and observing the world around them. I believe that children should be scaffolded with natural materials and encouraged to use their creativity to experience and express themselves in endless ways.
As an educator, I believe that I am a co-learner and collaborator alongside the children within my classroom. I believe that in order to facilitate a child’s learning, an educator must plan activities and lessons based on the interest of the children in their care. Asking questions to further provoke the child’s learning and understanding of concepts is also key to my role. As an educator, I believe it is important to remember that every child is an individual and deserves to be treated as such. I believe that I am committing long-term to enhancing my understanding of children through exploring and learning with the children in my classroom(s).
Family is the most important thing when shaping a child. I believe that the family should be involved in their child’s education. I strive to make every family feel included. At the end of the day, you as a parent are the expert on your child, and I would love to collaborate with you in order to assure your child is getting the most learning opportunities possible.
