Description

Class Experience

- Students will be able to complete a STEM challenge by following the engineering design process.
Students will need to gather supplies for the STEM challenge.
- Scissors - Glue (may want Elmer’s, Tacky, and hot glue) - Tape (may want a variety such as scotch, masking, and duct tape) Watering can or cup of water Various STEM Supplies (not needed for the 1st class) *This is just a list of suggestions. Students will design their project based on the supplies they have available to them. I find that recyclable materials work great such as small boxes and plastic containers from food packaging. - Construction paper, card stock, craft foam, scrapbook paper - Yarn - Small plastic containers (yogurt, pudding, sour cream, k-cups, medicine bottles, etc.) - Toilet paper and paper towel tubes - Disposable plates, bowls, cups, and silverware - Cupcake wrappers and coffee filters - Tooth picks, Q-tips, cotton balls - Craft sticks, Pipe cleaners, buttons, foam shapes - Aluminum foil, wax paper, plastic wrap - Bubble wrap - Styrofoam peanuts - Styrofoam trays
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
1 hour 30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Using hot glue is optional, however, students may need assistance if you allow them to use it for their STEM project.
