Let’s take a deep dive into the engineering world! In this 6 week flex course, students will learn how to solve problems like an engineer. Students will learn the same problem solving process that is used by NASA to solve their own problem and work hands on to build their own prototype. Why 6 weeks? STEM and engineering takes time! No prototype is built, tested and successful over night. It is my goal to give every student the true engineering experience! In the class, students will...
Students will learn the Engineering Design Process, how to define the problem, how to conduct research, how to design a prototype with different methods, how to conduct testing and how to evaluate their test results and work. Students will walk away with a STEM literacy to solve any problem like a real engineer.
Students will build a project and track their work in an engineering journal. The engineering journal will document their steps of the engineering design process with writing, drawings and pictures of their prototype.
Students will need the engineering journal which is a document provided. When students build their prototypes they may want to use cardboard, paper, scissors, glue ect.
Students will be given feedback in their engineering journal that they share with me. Students may request live meetings with me to check in, ask questions and receive feedback.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
