Class Experience

Welcome, young explorers, to the captivating world of circuits and electronics Level 8! In this thrilling circuit course, we will embark on an exciting journey to comprehend how electronics engineers perceive and understand electrical signals. Are you prepared to unveil the secrets of circuits and learn how to use special tools to visualize them? Let's dive right in!

Seeing the Invisible: As you know, electrical signals are invisible to the naked eye. But fear not! We'll introduce you to an incredible tool called the Oscilloscope that will enable us to "see" these signals.

We'll discover how to connect Snap Circuits to your computer using Winscope virtual oscilloscope and PC-interface cables, immersing our Snap Circuits® into the virtual world of electronics! The adventure doesn't end there! We'll explore the spectrum analyzer mode, where the computer performs a magical transformation (called FFT) to analyze the frequency spectrum of signals. Brace yourselves for some mind-blowing insights!

Putting our skills to the test, we'll connect Winscope anywhere in a circuit, creating an exciting experience where we can compare what we "see" in the signal to what we "hear" or "see" from the circuit. It's like having our own detective toolkit for electronics!

Additionally, we'll utilize the Two-Spring Socket “?1” component to connect additional electronic parts to our Snap Circuit set.

🚀 Unleash Your Curiosity: Get ready for an electrifying adventure in the world of circuits and electronics! By the end of this course, you'll have uncovered the magic of Winscope, mastered signal analysis, and become young electronics enthusiasts, ready to take on any circuit challenge!

Class Schedule:

Session 1: Introducing the Oscilloscope - In this thrilling session, we'll unveil the fascinating oscilloscope, exploring how this specialized test equipment works and how to read the valuable information it provides. Get ready to understand the meaning of horizontal and vertical scales and how they help us visualize electrical waveforms. We'll also conduct basic tests on common circuits from the past.

Session 2: Oscilloscope Part 2 - Exploring Frequencies and Frequency Spectrum. We'll review the significance of frequencies in understanding electrical signals, and you'll discover the magic of frequency spectrum and how it aids engineers in analyzing signals like pros! We will learn about the Fourier transform and how it helps us view frequencies on the spectrum analyzer.

Session 3: The Two-Spring Socket “?1” Component - We will connect additional electronic parts to our Snap Circuit set and also learn to read resistors based on their colors.

Session 4: The Two-Spring Socket “?1” Component Part 2 - We'll use LEDs and diodes to build circuits that light up and create wonders alongside our Snap Circuit components.

Session 5: Complex Circuits and Fun Challenges - We'll use Winscope to analyze more signals, record data, and display it as a graph in oscilloscope mode. We'll adjust gain, time scale, storage mode, and triggering to fine-tune our measurements and analysis.

Hi there! My classes are focused on STEM-related courses (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics). I want each session to be as interactive as possible with the goal of having students learn through games and activities. I teach classes I am passionate about and I want students to spark their imagination as they will be engineers and scientists of tomorrow.

I have a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Mathematics. I also have a Master’s in Business Administration. For many years, I have been an active mentor in the education sector focused mainly on science and technology. I have taken part in Engineering Kids programs where I show the importance of learning engineering through fun experiments and activities. I have also taken part in different Lego League training sessions and competitions. Additionally, As a father of two, I enjoy teaching my kids about science and the world that surrounds us.

My philosophy is that everyone has the potential to learn with the right tools. Kids and teenagers learn mostly through visual examples and my classes are focused to be as visual as possible.

I hope to see your smiling faces in my next class. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I will be happy to accommodate.
