Assessment
The teacher will view student work to see how their process is working as the teacher demonstrates and questions students' knowledge of the science behind spherification.

Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
Want to learn about Spherification and get to eat what you create? This is a three-day camp designed to, first of all, have fun, secondly, learn about Spherification, and a bonus of getting to make cool-looking treats that you can eat!

We will learn the science behind Spherification and then apply it to making the recipes for the three day class. The teacher will explain the science behind all of the procedures and then step the students through how to make the Spherification recipes. Follow up recipes will follow after students have learned the process and then want to make different items to eat. Everything will be edible and the products used have no GMC and are Kosher Approved.

Day 1 Recipe: Boba!
Students will learn how to make Boba, with the fruit juice of their choice (watch the ph level). There will also be a milk tea recipe included for those that want to make Boba Tea.

Day 2 Recipe: Ketchup Caviar
Students will make Spherification Ketchup balls that they can use in recipes or just have fun eating.

Day 3 Recipe: Dark Chocolate Raindrops
Students will apply their skills to a more difficult task of using chocolate to create spheres.

Tips and future ideas will be included in the fun and this process is pretty safe to make and delicious!

Learning Goals

Students will learn the science behind the Spherification of foods and then will practice their knowledge by making three different types of Spherification foods.

Students will learn why pH is essential in producing synthetic foods and test hypotheses to determine the best chemical combination to create spheres from juice, ketchup, and chocolate.
